The resort is located in the borough of Castrocielo, the ancient Castrum Coeli, part of the roman Aquinum territory, in a building erected at the end of the 18th century, probably, on the remains of a roman villa. According to the tradition in the 6th century the senator Giordano, Gregorio Magno’s father, gave the villa, named “Euchelia” and the surrounding land to the monks of Montecassino. There they built a church first, then a benedictine monastery. On the villa site around the benedictine monastery named “Monacato”, an inhabited centre was born; of the monks’ antique building, erected before the year 1000, a very evocative construction remains, which has recently been restored and turned into a centre for various events: concerts, conferences, exhibitions and civil marriages.
Also our antique residence has undergone a scrupulous restoration which has highlighted its original beauty and has provided it with every modern comfort, with respect to its characteristics and exalting its historical charm in harmony with the environment, simple but refined. The entire architectural complex expresses a sense of warm hospitality. |
